Wendy and Walter got married on a beautiful day in June 2017. While planning their big day, the couple’s goal was to plan a wedding that was both timeless and elegant, but also organic and true to the nature of Snug Harbor. Wendy and Walter wanted to incorporate both of their Chinese and Polish cultures into their wedding. When picking the wedding date Wendy referred to the Chinese Calendar to pick their wedding date. When you do this in their culture it is known if you hold the wedding in such a day, you will enjoy a happy and harmonious marriage.
Wendy and Walter’s ceremony took place in the Tuscan Garden. It was a breathtaking ceremony with many green and white floral elements true to the nature of Snug Harbor. The flowers and all of the décor were added a DIY element to the wedding. Florals were created by Wendy’s friend Eugenie Chen and herself. Wendy loved working on the floral arrangements together along with the help of bridesmaids and friends.
They used bamboo chairs for their guests. Every row of chairs was adorned with greens and baby’s breath to match the rest of the bridal party florals. The floral design carried through to Wendy’s bouquet and the beautiful arch their ceremony was conducted under.
After their ceremony Wendy changed into a red dress. Redplays a vital role in Chinese weddings. The color red is associated with success, loyalty, honor, fertility, and love, amongst others things. It was important to Wendy to bring that aspect of her culture into their wedding.
Cocktail hour was held in the Chinese Scholar Garden followed by their wedding reception in the Tented Pavillion.
Their reception under the tent made for a beautiful evening filled with lots of love and dancing. The tables were adorned with green and white florals and gold accents. Flowers cascaded down from the ceiling with twinkling lights above the dance floor as Wendy and Walter shared their first dance before their guests as husband and wife.
