Kristin and Tom were married on September 18th, 2020 in an outdoor micro wedding celebration at Celebrate Snug Harbor. This couple didn’t let the pandemic put a damper on their I Dos! With a bit of imagination, they found ways to rework their celebration to make it both safe AND sentimental. It was a very romantic, memorable day for all.
Why did you pick Snug Harbor for your wedding, was there any special reason?
Our wedding date was September 18, 2020 and we were originally scheduled to get married and have our reception at another venue. Because of the restrictions for indoor events, due to COVID-19, we had to postpone our larger reception until 2021 but still wanted to get married on our original wedding date. My family is originally from Staten Island and a family friend recommended Snug Harbor. We saw all of the great reviews and beautiful photographs on The Knot and reached out right away! Celebrate Snug Harbor was able to make our wedding happen with an afternoon ceremony and cocktail reception in the Tuscan Garden.
Where on the grounds of Snug Harbor did your wedding take place?
We chose to have our ceremony and cocktail hour in the beautiful Tuscan Garden. Our big reception is postponed till 2021.
Did you have a certain wedding theme or color scheme?
Our wedding was a “tuscan theme” which made Snug Harbor and the Tuscan Garden an absolutely perfect setting for our wedding day! Our color scheme was black, white, and burgundy. Our decorator used topiaries and large white floral sprays for the urns in the garden & our invitations, wedding programs, etc were embellished with greenery. The favors for our guests were mini bottles of Verde Spumante with personalized labels.
What is a fun fact about your wedding?
My husband is OBSESSED with dinosaurs and Jurassic Park, so I pranked him for our first look and had someone in a blow up dinosaur costume tap him on the shoulder before our real first look. It was hilarious! We also walked out to the Jurassic Park theme song by the Piano Guys for our ceremony.
Advice for future celebrate couples?
Our advice to future couples planning their weddings would be to make sure they enjoy themselves, allow their personalities to shine through, and take the time to appreciate every moment as it unfolds on their special day. If nothing else, COVID-19 has taught us ALL that there are things that will always be out of our control and we can’t take things for granted. We believe that this pandemic made our relationship stronger than ever before because we were forced to overcome so much this year. It gave us a new outlook to take life a little less seriously and to expect the unexpected. At the end of the day, it’s all about marrying the person you love.
We are so lucky to have delightful couples like Kristin and Tom to work with at Celebrate Snug Harbor. A special thank you to Ashley Lynn Photography who was on hand to capture every moment of this special wedding.
