Couples Tribute: Barbara & Charlie

Barbara and Charlie were married on September 28th 2019 in a garden wedding celebration at Celebrate Snug Harbor. It was a very romantic, memorable day for all.

Why did you pick Snug Harbor for your wedding, was there any special reason?

We truly felt that Celebrate Snug Harbor was the perfect venue for our wedding. We wanted to pick something that was close to home, an easy drive for friends and family, and somehwere that was truly beautiful. We found that every part of Snug Harbor was absolutely breathtaking. We knew it was the perfect fit for our garden wedding.

Can you tell us about your wedding dress?

My wedding dress was designed by Sottero and Midgley. The dress was a girly-glam plunging princess wedding dress in champagne colorways. A dione organza with horsehair layered ballgown skirt and the bodice was adorned with Swarovski crystals and pearls.

Where on the grounds of Snug Harbor did your wedding take place?

Both the ceremony and reception were at Snug Harbor. Ceremony and cocktail hour were held in the Tuscan Garden and the Reception was held in the Tented Pavilion.

Did you have a certain wedding theme or color scheme?

Our wedding plan was to have a botanical garden wedding that was filled with lush greenery and and soft florals. The color scheme was Sage, Grey, and Muted Peach. We had a lot of the beauty of Snug Harbor do the talking when it came to decor but our florists, Carroll’s killed it with the bouquet’s, hupa, and center pieces highlighting the juliet rose, ranunculus, eucalyptus and more. Our favors were also the place card holders and those were succulents.

Did you have a wedding planner or any DIY elements?

We acted as our own wedding planner, with the help of the Celebrate Snug Harbor team. They were so helpful and accomodating to all of our wedding needs. For the DIY elements  we had a “Kids Corner” which was full of backyard games and a small tent. The place cards, place card holders, and some signs were all DIY.

What was your 1st Dance Song?

Our first dance song was The Wonder of You, originally by Elvis Presley but we used the cover by Connor O’Brian then that cut into Etta’s James’, Something’s Got a Hold on Me (just listen to it, it’s perfect).

Music was very important to us. Since this was a Russian (Jewish)/Korean wedding we wanted to blend the two cultures and languages together so we had both a Korean and Russian MC. All of the music and performances were by TI Fusion Band (band, dj, mc, violinist, cello, sax)

Advice for future celebrate couples:

Don’t stress, even though it’s inevitable. Remember to always bring it back to yourselves. Don’t try to please anyone. Advice can be good but there is such a thing as too much.
